Paperclip are delighted to announce that we have partnered with Student Money Saver to help students buy, sell and swap on their very own safe, secure online marketplace. Savvy students using the Student Money Saver website will be able to grab essential Uni supplies and more at a fraction of the retail price and make money online by selling their old stuff.
The marketplace is free to use for all SMS users and always will be. As usual, there are no listing fees or transaction fees and students can get started simply by logging into the marketplace with their Facebook credentials. Just look for the Marketplace tab on the Student Money Saver website.
The student marketplace
We did some research and found that as many as half of students are worried about being able to buy course resources such as books and materials. Not only that, but financial pressures meant almost three-quarters of students (71%*) were stressed and anxious about money.
To help with this, Student Money Saver users are now able to save money on everything from smartphones and laptops to the kit they might need for sports societies. It also gives students the chance to trade and sell any unwanted kitchen items and books that they wouldn’t need after they graduate, but that a new student could really use.
Linking up with SMS
Speaking about the partnership, Mark Stevenson, Head of Operations at Student Money Saver said “Having been involved with Student Money Saver for five years I understand just how important it is for students to be savvy with their finances, which is why I’m so excited to be launching our very own student marketplace with Paperclip.
It’ll provide a fantastic opportunity for students to be able to buy, sell and swap items within the comfort of their university community, and hopefully prove to be an important tool in what can be a financially tricky time.”
Alan, our Co-Founder and CCO added “We’re so proud to be working with Student Money Saver this year. A student marketplace isn’t just about saving money, it’s about being part of a community and we couldn’t think of a better platform to work with than one which has helped so tremendously with student wellbeing.
“My co-founder Rich and I met at university and we know firsthand how important it is to budget well and take every opportunity to save when you’re a student. We really hope that having a free marketplace available not only helps with saving, but that it goes some way towards reducing the stress that can come with being in a new environment and budgeting for the first time.”
Not only this, but Paperclip will be running a special competition where users of the Student Money Saver marketplace can win up to £100 as well as a host of other cool runner-up prizes. The details of this will be announced later this week on our Facebook page, keep your eyes peeled for more info about how to enter and increase your chances of taking home a sweet prize!
